After 20 years, Beverly Hills Grill keeps true to its recipe for success

Among the hot metro Detroit restaurants of 1988 were The Excalibur, The Money Tree, the Pontchartrain Wine Cellars, Joe Muer’s, the Golden Mushroom — and a bright new place called the Beverly Hills Grill, which was a hit the minute it opened.
Of that group, only the Beverly Hills Grill is still around. The unassuming spot, which debuted in March 1988 behind a “palm tree” on Southfield Road in Beverly Hills, seems to have found the secret of perpetual youth as it celebrates its 20th anniversary just as popular as ever.
On March 16, proprietor Bill Roberts toasted the Grill’s first two decades with, appropriately, California champagne in a packed house filled with regulars who dropped by to offer congratulations.
